6 PREPARATION INSTALLING A BAC KUP BATTERY The TAD requir es AC power to operat e. 14 T AD OPERATION RECOR DING THE OUTGOING MESSAGE Before you can set the TAD to answer calls, you must recor d an outgoing m e s- sage (OGM). This is what the caller hears when the TAD answer s a call. Th e outgoing m essage can be up t o 60 sec- onds long. Hint : Do not te ll callers that you are not home. 15 RECOR DING INCOMING MESSAGES The maximum length for each incoming message is 60 seconds. If a recording reaches 55 seconds, the TAD be eps once to notify the caller that time will be up soon. If a recording reaches 60 sec- onds, the TAD beeps th ree times, then disconnects. The TAD stops record ing and resets to answer the next call when: • th[...]

17 RECOR DING A MEMO A memo is a message you can record at the TAD, without having to call in on the phone. The TAD-759 can record a memo of u p to 60 sec onds long.
