5 ANTENNA The Eagle Vie w’ s antenna can be mounted on any flat surface , pro vided you ha ve access behind the surf ace for the mounting scre ws. A magnet is also supplied that can be epo xied to the bottom of the antenna, allo wing it to be used on off-road v ehicles. A pole mount adapter lets y ou mount the antenna on a pole or s wiv el mount.[...]

6 After drilling the holes, pass the o-ring ov er the antenna cable and press it into the groo v e on the bottom of the antenna housing. Now attach the antenna to the mounting surf ace , using 4mm scre ws and the supplied loc k washers . Route the cab le to the Eagle Vie w and the antenna installa- tion is finished. 8 OPERA TION T urning P o wer On T o tur n the Eagle Vie w on, simply press the PWR ke y . A screen similar to the one at right appears. Read the message on the screen, then press the EXIT k e y to er ase it. The Eagle View is now ready f or use . MENUS Most of the Eagle View’ s adjustments and features are f ound on “menus”. 9 Once the Eagle View loc ks on to the satellites and finds your position, it stores the satellite data in its memor y . The next time y ou use the unit, it should tak e much less time to loc k on. T o use your Eagle View , first make cer tain y ou ha ve a clear vie w of the sky , free from any obstructions such as trees, car por t, or a cov ered b[...]

18 Grid Lines The Eagle View can place g rid lines on the plotter to help y ou see your position, or the position of w a ypoints and icons . T o do this, highlight the “Grid Lines” label on the “Plotter Opts” menu, then press the r ight arro w k e y to turn them on. Press the EXIT k e y to e xit this menu. 21 COURSE DEVIA TION INDICA T OR (CDI) The CDI sho ws your distance to the left or right of the desired course. Y ou must recall a w a ypoint or run a route to use the CDI. 22 CLOCK Whene v er a clock, timer , or alarm is showing on a displa y , new items appear in the list when y ou press the MENU k ey . These items let y ou set the cloc k’ s time, alar ms, or the timers . Cloc k Set If the time sho wn on the cloc k displa y is not y our local time, change it using the “Cloc k Set” function. 23 Timer s The Eagle Vie w has two timers built in. One is a countdo wn timer and the other is a count-up timer . The countdown timer counts do wn from the time y ou put in to zero . The count-up timer star ts at z ero and counts up to the time y ou entered. T o set either timer , first switch to a win- do w g roup with a timer . Ne xt, press the M[...]

25 Sa ving The Cursor P osition as a W a ypoint When the cursor is sho wing on the plotter and y ou press the WPT ke y twice , the Eagle View puts the cursor’ s position into the first a v ailab le w a ypoint n umber . A message appears on the displa y telling y ou the wa y- point number it just used. W ait a fe w seconds and the menu will clear [...]

27 W A YPOINT NAMES It automatically assigns the wa ypoint number as a name when the w a ypoint position is sa v ed. Y ou can find a wa y - point by highlighting the “Name” label on the w a ypoint men u as shown at right. Now press the right or left arrow k e ys to scroll through the sa v ed w a ypoints. 30 ROUTES Y ou can connect se v er al user wa ypoints together to f or m a route. When y ou recall the route, the Eagle View will sho w y ou na vigation inf ormation to the first wa ypoint in the route, then when you reach that wa ypoint, it s witches to the ne xt w a ypoint, and so on until y ou reach the last w a ypoint in the route. 32 Finishing the Route When y ou’ve selected all of the wa ypoints f or the route, simply press the EXIT k e y until y ou return to the navigation, plotter , or windows screen. Y our route is sav ed in memory . Delete a W a ypoint T o delete a wa ypoint from a route , first select the route from the “Route Plan- ning” or “Run Route” menus[...]

39 NMEA / DGPS The Eagle View transmits data through the data por t in the bac k of the unit using NMEA 0183 f or mat, v ersion 1.5 or 2.0. This data is used by other electronic de vices such as mar ine autopilots for position and steer- ing inf ormation. DGPS on the other hand, is a data input.
