7 PLACING THE BASE ON A DESK T OP Follow th ese steps when y ou place the base on a desk, shelf, or t able. 1. Remove the b racket by ho lding in both tabs and gently pulling o ut t he wide end of the bracket. 2. Plug one end of the suppli ed long modul ar cord into the phone jack on the back of the base. 3. 14 OPE R ATION MAKING AN D RECEIVING CALLS To make a call, simply lift the handset and press TA L K . When you hear the dial tone, dial t he desired phone number or memory n umber (see “ Mem ory Dialing” on Page 16).
