16 S T E P 1 Unit Specifies the units that define the size of the scanned image. Set Pr eferences Y ou can set prefer ences for the operating environment which will be used for every scanning job until you change them. 22 S T E P 1 When an image is scanned, it is read as a collection of “dots.” The scan mode that is selected determines how each of these dots is repr esented in the output.
