2 S/A - What is it? Another f actor that greatly influences the receiver’ s ability to determine position is SA. The United States gov ernment intentionally degrades the satellites signal f or civilian users. They introduce small errors into the satellite’ s signals that makes the GPS receiv er less accurate. 3 GETTING ST ARTED P ower The Expedition operates from f our AA batter ies, or one DURA CELL® NiMH rechargeable battery , or from 5 to 16 volts DC using the e xter nal pow er cable. 7 Quick Initialization If you don’t w ant to wait f or the Auto Search, then y ou can speed up the initialization process by using the “Quick Initialization” f eature. T o do this , first turn the unit on, then press the MENU key . The screen shown at right appears. Now press the down arro w key until the “GPS SETUP” label is highlighted.[...]
