6 CONNECTING POWER Use the supplied AC ad apt er to pow er your an swering s ystem. Cautio n s: • Y ou must use an AC ada pter that supplies 9 volts of power , delivers at least 500 millia mps, and has a plug that properly f its the T AD- 285’s POWER SOURCE jack. 8 PLACING THE PHONE ON A DESKTOP To use your a nswering system o n a desk, table, or s h elf, plug one end of the suppl ied telephone cord i nto PHONE JACK and plug the other end into a modul ar phone jack, then pro- ceed to “Conne cting the Handset” on Page 10.
