While preparing to charge a battery , read and follow these guidelines: 1. Ensure you ’re working with a 12- or 6-volt lead-acid battery . T o determine the voltage of the battery , refer to the vehicle owner ’s manual or the battery markings. Set the Battery Manager to the 6V or 12V mode accordingly . 2. Clean the battery terminals.
